Meekins Weds Burwell Evans Father of Bride Offici ates In Center Hill Church The wedding of Miss Ina Dale Meekins, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Earl Ray Meekins, to Burwell Atkinson Evans of Atlanta, Ga., took . place with stately ceremony on Sat ' urday, September 6, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon at the Center Hill Methodist Church. The church was decorated with a background of greens. Tall vases of gladioli, asters and dahlias interlaced with fern were flanked by candelabra within the altar and repeated on either side of the altar rail. The bridal arch was intertwined with fronds of ivy and rose above a kneeling bench of white satin. A piano program of nuptial music was presented preceding the cere mony by Miss Marietta Hooper. Tra ditional wedding marches by Lohen grin and Mendelssohn were used and Deßusussy’s “Claire de Lune” was played during the marriage vows. J. Allen Osborne sang “Because” and “I Love You Truly” during the musical program. The bride, who was given in mar riage by her uncle, S. Warren Meek ins, wore a wedding gown of white satin bodice and full peplum with deep net yoke finished with bertha of lace. The long sleeves were tapered to point over the hands. The full net skirt was worn over a crinoline and ended in a full train. Her fingertip veil of imported illusion fell from a coronet of finely pleated maline em broidered in crystal medallions. The bride’s only jewel was a pair of rhinestone earrings, a gift of the bridegroom. She carried a white Bible centered with a white orchid and ribbon with lilies of the valley and stephanotis. Miss Lois Meekins was her sister’s maid of honor. She wore a gown of aqua taffeta with basque bodice and full skirt of moussoline de saie. The off-shoulder effect was created by moussoline bertha. She car ried a nosegay bouquet of lavender astera and matching bandeau. Bridesmaids were Miss Betty Jean Osborne and Miss Janice Meekins. They wore matching taffeta gowns of aqua and rose and carried contrast ing nosegays. • Junior bridesmaid was Miss Mary 1 Little Meekins, dressed in white satin 1 and net. Bridesmaids also wore ban : deaus of asters in their hair. Flower girl, little Miss Gloria Ann i Osborne, was costumed as a minia -1 ture bride. R. Graham Evans was his brother’s best man. Ushers were David Meek ins, Malcolm Bobbitt, Philip Meekins, Robert L. Wilson and Melvin Meekins. Officiating at the ceremony was the father of the bride, the Rev. Earl Ray Meekins. The bride’s mother wore a dress of rose beige crepe with dark brown accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. Mistress of ceremonies was por trayed by Mrs. Inez Meekins. The bridegroom’s sister, Mrs. Clay ton Middleton, wore a two-piece dress of aqua crepe with black accessories and a corsage of pink roses. After the ceremony a reception was given at the home of the bride. Guests were received at the-door by Mrs. Rufus Smithson, who announced them to the mother of the bride, the father of the bridegroom, W. G. Ev- . ans, the bride and bridegroom, Mrs. Clayton Middleton, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Lois Meekins, sister of the bride. Gifts were on display and punch and cake, nuts and mints were served. After the three-tier wedding cake had been cut by the newlyweds, good byes were expressed at the door by Mrs. Emmett Jones. For traveling the bride wore a cinnamon brown two-piece crepe suit I with dark brown accessories. She ' wore the orchid from her Bible. The couple will attend Louisburg i College after a Southern wedding trip.
