PAGE TWO Lieut Myrtle Lane Weds Capt. Mathews Miss Myrtle Winslow Lane of Ty ner and Fort Bragg, first lieutenant Army Nuysas Corps, and Captain Ed win John Mathews of Fort Dix, N. J., were united in marriage in an impres sive candlelight ceremony In Main Post Chapel, at Fort Bragg, Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Baskets of white chrysanthemums against a background of palms and ferns and four seven-branched candel abra bearing white tapers formed a pretty setting for the wedding scene. Completing the decorations, the altar rail was entwined with trailing ivy. Captain J. B. Marler, assistant post chaplain of Fort Bragg, performed the double ring ceremony. Prior to the speaking of vows, a program of nuptial music was pre sented by Miss Edna Williams, organ ist. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Henry E. Lane of Ty ner. She wore a white satin wedding gown trimmed with seed pearls fea turing sweetheart neckline and long sleeves ending in points over the hands. The full skirt extended into a circular train. Her finger-tip veil of bridal illusion was draped from a crown of seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white carnations showered with pale pink sweetheart roses. Her only ornament was a strand of pearls. Attending her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. Thomas T. Purvis of Shvannah, Ga. . Prances Smithson of Tyner, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Bridesmaids were Lieut. Veneta Shore of Fort Bragg and Miss, Mary Crawford of Fayetteville. The bridegroom was attended by Major William Griffith of Fort Dix, and the ushers were Lieut. R. E. Fish burn and Captain William Huffstetler of Fort Bragg. Mrs. Henry E. Lane, mother of the bride, wore sheer black trimmed with sequins and a shoulder corsage of pink roses and carnations. ‘ Following the ceremony, Hospital Wo. 1 Nurses Home was the scene of a reception for the bridal party and wedding guests. Later in the evening, Captain and Mrs. Mathews left by motor for Cali fornia, from whence Captain Mathews will sail in January for Korea. For traveling the bride was attired in a green gabardine suit with brown ac cessories and a corsage from her wedding bouquet. She wore a white gold bracelet set with emeralds, a gift of the bridegroom. The bride, a popular member of the Nurses Corps, graduated from Jeffer son Medieal College Hospital, Phila delphia. and did Dost graduate work 1 at William and Mary College, Rich mond, Va. Before joining the ANC, she was employed in the Cumberland County Health Department.
