On visiting Vernon Boyce of the '
Center Hill community it was found ;
that he wfll planning to sell approxi- j

per acre. Through the assistance of
Mr. Jones, an estimate was made of
the volume of pulp wood contained on
the tract and found the figure to be
somewhere around 275 to 300 cords.
A one-acre plot was then measured
off and trees marked that should
come out for a good thinning, leav
ing a good stand of the best pines to
grow into timber.
The thinning would amount to 8 to
10 cords per acre. It was then point
ed out to Mr. Boyce that by cutting
the pulp wood himself and selling it
at $6.00 per cord on t’he ground in the
woods, the price paid for pulp wood
in that area, he should obtain a re
turn of SBOO to S9OO. It was esti
mated that he could cut at least two
cords of pulp wood a day by himself
and by thus working over his woods
he would be able 'to earn approxi
mately $35 per week above the
stumpage price of $2.50 per cord for
pulp wood and still leave a good
stand of nice pines to grow. If he
cuts it clean he will lose the present
23 years growth on this timber, which
in 20 to 25 years will be good mer
chantable saw logs, setting back his
next crop of timber at least 50 years
to reach merchantable size.

' the inoculated Ladino clover seed was
' mixed with land plaster as a carrier,
Alta Fescue was' then added and thor
oughly mixed. By using a carrier for
the Ladino clover seed it is found
there is sufficient bulk to provide an
even distribution of the seed and in
the base where grass seed is mixed
the mixture Will maintain its consist
ency and not let the clover seed sift
to the bottom. A cyclone seeder was
used for seeding both pastures.
