PAGE TWO Negro Club Women Make County Tour Affair Climax to Cele bration of Home Dem- onstration Week On Thursday morning of last week at 10 o’clock, 52 club women and eight men left the home agent’s office to see the improvements made by Home Demonstration Club women in Chowan County. The following communities were in cluded in the tour: St. John —Mrs. Olivia Wiggins: Li brary and sewing room. The room was painted, rug placed on floor and curtains made from cheese cloth. Canaan Temple—Mrs. Laretta Cos ton: Front yard, shrubs were planted around the front porch to serve q.s screen until it can be underpenned; grass was sown in the yard. Canaan Temple—Mrs. Lula Wills: Flowers. Beautiful flowers of all kinds were seen. , Edenton—Mrs. Sadie Fayton: Kit chen and bath room. The old kitchen was turned around, cabinets built, new doors and windows cut and paint ed. A new room was added over the kitchen for the bath room. The batn room has all modem equipment. Virginia Fork—Mrs. Geneva Boyce: Home. The family bought wooded land, cleared and built the house. Warren Grove—Mrs. Clara Carter: Out door living room. Chairs, tables and magazine racks were made and painted and placed out doors under a tree oh the lawn for the summer. Warren Grove—Mrs. Elton.. Hall: Kitchen. Part of the back porch was taken for the kitchen, the room was painted, running wmter added, sink made from an old oil stove; gas stove used for cooking; refrigerator. : Green Hall—Mrs. Lula Welch: Kit chen: The floor has been tiled and < walls tiled half way up. The other part painted and cabinets added. < Green Hall—Mrs. Elenora Rob- ; erts: Kitchen. Lights and electric stove added. : Center Hill—Mrs. Charity Twine: Kitchen and brooder house, The kit- 1 chen was painted; cabinets added, sink and running water; electric l stove. Brooder house with oil burner. Hudson Grove —Mrs, Lillian H. 1 Parks: Backyard. A back porcli added; flowers and grass planted. Hudson Grove —Mrs. Annie Morris: 1 A new kitchen was built with cabinets ; started. i The last place was the Hudson : Grove Community Center, which was < built by different organizations in that community. ' In the Center a quiz program was < conducted by Thomas Jernigan, after < which ice cream was served by the Virginia Fork Club.
