Two Chowan Boys Do Very Wei hi , Fat Stock Show Bezar Davenport’s Steer fr Judged Third Best In Lightweight Class t Bezar Davenport did very wdll with his fat Hereford calf in the fourth annual Albemarle Fat Stock Show and Sale held in Elizabeth , City last week. Bezar’s steer was [ judged as the third best in the lightweight class. The calf weighed 776 pounds and was sold to the Hertford Livestock Company for 36 Mali per pound. Rufus Smithson, Jr., entered an Aberdeen-Angus steer, which was sold to Rodney Bateman of Colum bia for 30 cents per pound. “Both Bezar and Rufus spent a lot of time with their calves,” said As sistant County Agent Robert Marsh, . “and they are to be commended for ' their interest in their calves.” The show and sale was reported to be the most successful ever held. Thirty-eight fat steers which were fed out by 4-H and FFA Club members' were entered in the event. The grand champion steer, which was fed out by Lota Leigh Harri son of Camden county, was sold for 75 cents per pound. There were more hogs entered in the show this year than ever before. A total of 102 hogs were sold, with the lowest price being 19% cents per pound. The grand champion hog, shown by Bobby Cooper, was Slid for 41% cents per pound. > Corey Plumbing Co. In New Quarters ' Concern Now Located Next to J. L. Batton & Bro. Office This week the Corey Plumbing Company, which has been operating in Edenton about four months, moved to a new building on North Broad Street, next to the J. L. Batton & rj Bro. office. Until this week, the con r cem has been operating at 109 West I Freemason, home of R. H. (Bob) Kennan, manager. In the new quarters Mr. Keenan « will have an appropriate show room and will carry a complete line of plumbing supplies. The general public is cordially in vited to visit and inspect the new home of the concern. Mr. Keenan stated that the new phone number is 545, and that the old phone number, 420-J, will be used only for night service. The concern will be open daily from 8:30 A. M. to 5 P.
