PAGE EIGHT New Provisions [ In Cotton Law * * __________ Application for Increase Mast Be Filed By April 21 New cotton legislation recently passed by Congress provides for mini mum 1950 acreage allotments based on one of three provisions, J. M. Price, Secretary to the county PMA committee, said this week. The revised allotments are based on the larger of (1) 65 per cent of the average acreage planted in cotton (or devoted to war crops in place of cot ton) in 1946, 1947 and 1948; (2) 45 per cent of the highest acreage plant ed to cotton (or devoted to war crops :n place of cotton) on the farm dur ing any one of the three years; but (3) not more than 40 per cent of the 1949 acreage which was tilled on the farm or in regular rotation. However, those desiring in creases will be considered by the coun ty committee after applications for such increases are filed in the county office.” Each operator of a farm for which an application is filed will receive a notice from the county committee of the revised 1950 cotton acreage allot ment. When the new allotment notice is mailed it will replace any previous i 1950 allotment notice already received by the farm operator. Application forms may be obtained from the county PMIA office. G, April 15th The marriage of Miss Ernestine Jones, of Edenton, to Wiliuun Voge des, Jr., of Baltimore, Md., took place on Saturday, April 16th, in the Lu ther Place Memorial Church, Wash ington, D. C. The ceremony was per formed by the Rev. L. Ralph Tabor, pastor of the church. The bride wore a dress of bridal blue, with matching hat, and navy accessories, and carried a prayer book topped with purple-throatedl white , orchids. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Herbert Bragg Jones and the late Mr. Jones of Edenton. She graduated from Edenton High School and attended 1 Massey’s Business College in Rich mond, Va. Mr. Vogedes is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Vogedies of Baltimore, ( Md. He was graduated from Gettys burg College, Gettysburg, Penna., and served as Lieut., J. G., in the U. S. Navy during World War 11. He is now connected with the Caroline Lum- I her Company in Bowling Gbeen, Va. After the ceremony a small recep tion was held at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Helen Huffines. Later Mr. and Mrs. Vogedes left for a wedding trip to New York and Bermuda.
