Group Formed To Study Resources On State Farms Designed For Better Un derstanding of Farm Programs Formation of an 11-member group designed to provide rural people with “a fuller understanding of research developments and farm programs” and made up of representatives of North Carolina farm organizations and agencies interested in agriculture and rural development, was agreed on in Raleigh, August 11. , At a meeting presided over by A. C. Edwards, Hookerton, North Carolina Farm Bureau president, the farm groups and agencies were called upon to cooperate on a State, county and community level, so that “the arm of service of all available agencies will be etxended and greater use made of our human and natural resources for the good of all.” The organization will be made up of the heads of: the North Carolina Farm Bureau, State Grange, Experi ment Station, Extension Service, Vo cational Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, Production and Marketing Ad ministration, N. C. Departments of Agriculture and Conservation and De velopment, Farmers Home Admini stration, and the N. C. Rural Electri fication and Telephone Administration. The first meeting of the group will be held September 8 at two P. M., in the Tobacco ’Stabilization Building, Ra leigh, N. C. Leaders of the various groups rep resented decided to call the organiza tion tentatively: “The North Caro lina Board of Farm Organizations and Agencies.” However, it was made clear that the group was free to adopt a name of its own selection when or ganized. Dr. J. H. Hilton, Experiment Station director, will serve as chairman for the first year, and the group will elect a Vice-Chairman and Secretary-Treas urer. In the future, all three officers will be elected annually from the mem bership. Meetings will be held quar terly or more often if necessary, on call. It was pointed out that everyone in terested in agriculture and rural de velopment will benefit if farm organi- ■ zations strengthen their efforts through membership “to work dili gently and cooperate in using avail able personnel from the various agri cultural agencies for group meetings, ‘/w WASHER a $2,001 after .mall dawn SWASHER wWLvI/ With famous "Quick-clean" Activator* washing action— washes each jjiece individually! lUpOwldKWiptying Pump ★ Fu!l 8-pound Caparity * !
