4-H Club Members MakeGoodShow'mg f In Fat Stock Show Robert Preston Dail Is Winner Os Top Honors ) } For Ghowan Group Chowan County 4-H dub members did unusually well at the seventh an nual Albemarle Fat Stock Show and Sale on May 13 and 14. There were eight fat steers exhibited by six 4-H Club boys and one girl. Robert Pres ton Dail, son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Dail of Tyner, won top honors in the Chowan County group. Robert enter ed two steers in the show and sale, and his best steer graded prime. This steer, which weighed 930 pounds, was bought by Colonial Stores for 40 cents per pound. This steer was the 7th best of the 51 entries in the show. Robert's other steer, which grade! choice, brought 37 cents per pound, and also was bought by Colonial Stores. John Kramer, cashier, Bank of Edenton, loaned the money for the purchase of the steers. The loan will be repayed with interest, and this 4 project has not only been a great benefit to Robert, but has also brought more money into the community. / L. E. Twine, of the Gliden communi ty, was the only Chowan farmer who exhibited hogs at the show and sale. \ He exhibited one pen of 8 fat hogs. This pen was judged second best in its class. ( Murray Baker and T. W. Hires, of the P. D. Gwaltney, Jr., and Co., of Smithfield, Va., bought seven hogs and paid excellent prices. They bought the reserve champion individual hog for 90c per pound. The grand cham pion of three hogs for 42c per pound and the reserve champion pen of three hogs for 57c per pound were also purchased. Gi'bson Brickie of Colonial Motor Court, bought the fat steer which was shown by H. Ivey Ward, of Ryland. This steer graded choice and weighed 760 pounds.
