SHr<. . • 7 Our Neighbors > By MISS REBECCA COLWELL Chowan Comity Homo Agent The Albemarle Potato Festival As sociation is sponsoring two contests t- tor women and girls as part otf the Festival Program on May 28-129 in Elizabeth City. I hope all of you good cooks and seamstresses will en ter one, or both of these contests. Valuable county and district prises will be offered but I do not have a list of these now. However, lam giv ing you other details so that you may decide on the potato recipe you’ll use, and the garment you want to make. Rules for the potato recipe con test follow: 1. Those entering the contest shall present the recipe and the prepared dish at a county elimination contest held during the first week in May. 2. The contestant m&y make only one entry in each class. 3. A Junior and Senior County Win ner shall be selected for each class. In case of only one entry in a class, - the entry may be declared a county winner if it meets the accepted stand ards of the judges, 4. All county winners shall bring their prepared dish to Elizabeth City on May 15 to be judged for Ist place winner in each Junior and 'Senior class. Out of the group one dish shall be selected for Ist place winner of the .entire contest. 5. All county winners shall exhibit their prepared dishes along with their recipes at a cooking school held dur ing the Festival. 6. The winners of the recipe contest shall be announced at the coolring school referred to above. Date of notifying Home Economist of entering April 22. The potato bag sewing contest rules follow: 1. Garment must be made by per son entering. 2. Each person who enters must model the garment she has marie. 3. All garments entered in contest must be made of the official potato bag which may be secured from Eliza beth City Chamber of Commerce for fifty cents each. Home Demonstration Club members and others have been asked to make banners to be used during the Festi val. If any club or individual is in terested in making some of the ban ners please let me know by Monday, March 23. They will furnish the ma terial and pay $4.00 for making each unit of 6 street banners and one store front banner.
