Growers On May 21st
Attention is called to a series of
meetings (to be held over Ithe IStalte of
Hie Tobacco (Stabilization Ooa-poraltion.
The purpose of these meetings 5® to
inform tobacco growers the Itrue pur
pose of the organization. (All county
commissioners and tobacco farmers
are urged to attend the meeting most
convenient. The nearest meeting for
•Chowan farmers will be held at Rocky
Mount Thursday night, May 21, at
7:30 o’clock.
Similar meetings are also scheduled
in Georgia, Florida, South Carolina
and Virginia.
CORAPEAKE NEWS
'Pvtt Luther B. Harrell, Jr., lof Fort
Ord, Calif., spent a few days with his
parenlts, Mr. and Mrs. L. 'B. Harrell
of Corapeake. He was inducted into
the Army November 25, 1952 and
took his basic training at Ford Ord,
after which he went to school at a
veterinary hospital as a food inspec
tor. He has returned to I9an Diego,
Calif., where he will be permanently
stationed as a meat inspector. His
wife, Mrs. Louise C. Harrell of Louise
Obi<ri Hospital, Suffolk, where ishe has
been nursing since November, 1952,
accompanied him to California, where
she will take up nursing.
The Rev. Alphonso Jordan of Ra
leigh will preach at 'Sandy Cross
Church next Sunday, May 10, Moth
er’s Day, ftt 11 A. M. Mr. Jordan
will have a special song service and,
everybody is invited to attend.
