The Chowan County Farm Bureau I
Started its 1964 membership drive on I
Wednesday night of last week with a I
kick-off dinner for the workers held I
at the Chowan Community Building. I
The Oak Grove Home Demonstration I
Club Served a barbecue dinner, which I
was thoroughly enjoyed. Alonzo Ed- I
wards, past president of the N. C. I
Farm Bureau and Green County Rep- I
resentative to the Legislature, gave a I
most informative and inspirational I
address to the workers preparatory I
for the drive. 1
Mr. Edwards pointed out that I
farmers in Chowan County, or in any I
other county, cannot afford to sit idly I
by and not do their part by being a I
member of a farm organization which I
is working in every way for farm I
people. Bill Little, district Farm Bu- I
reau representative, distributed to the I
workers the membership drive ma- |
terials and explained how to use them.
President Lonnie Harrell was 'in
charge of the meeting and urged his
workers 'to get out and contact every
farm family in their community im
mediately, within the next three days,
and by all means complete a 100 per
cent contact within a week’s time.
COUNCIL MEETS TUESDAY
Town Council will hold its October
meeting Tuesday night, October 13,
in the Municipal Building.
