Mrs. Claude Estes | Elected President Of' Fidelis Club New Officers Will Be Installed Tuesday, November 15 Thu Fidelis NGO Wives Chib held its business meeting Tuesday, November 1, when the president. Mrs. U, K. Hollingsworth welcom ed three new members, Mrs. J. J. Stnnoo, Mrs. W, R. McElroy and Mrs. J. Hicks. During the meeting officers were elected which included the follow ing: President, Mrs. Claude Ka tes; first vice president, Mrs. 1). F. Richardson; second vice president, Mrs. R. ('. Keyes; secretary, Mrs. G. Honk; treasurer, Mrs. Alvin T. Backherms. Plans were made for the instal lation of these new officers Tues day night, November 15, at 7 o’clock. Husbands will b<> invit ed to accompany the members of the club to a buffet supper for tile occasion. Appointed on a commit tee to make the necessary arrange ments are: Mrs, W. K. Mabe, chair man, Mrs. .1. K. Sparks. Mrs. W. R. McElroy and Mrs. J. Straiten A committee was also appointed tr assist in decorating a Marine float for the Kdenton Christmas parade, which includes Mrs. Alvin T. Backherms. Mrs. Clifford Turn er and Mrs. J. J. Stance. It was announced that the monthly cake sale will he held Tuesday, November 22 in the Albe marle room in the Post Exchange. Following the business meeting members enjoyed delectable re freshments which were arranged by Mrs. Eleanor Day, Mrs. Claude Es tes and Mrs. R. C. Keyes. Colored Halloween Party Big Success The Negro annual Halloween party held last week was a very successful affair from every stand point, and as a result a large group of youngsters enjoyed a good time every minute of the party. Tli, Negro Junior Woman’s Club desires to thank the Edenton High .School Band and its director. Charier Jenkins, for the excellent music during the party as well as its sincere appreciation to each business concern and individual who cooperat' d in any way to make the Halloween party such a splen did success. REM POND Cl.l’B MEETS The Gum Pond Home Demon stration Club met November 2 with Mrs. Carev Evans. The meeting opened hv singing ‘Old North State.” Mrs. Clarence Bass gave the devotional. Tile roll was call ed with 11 members present. The minutes Were read and approved. During the business the president, Mrs. Marvin Smith, gave the club the $5.00 check which was present ed her at the Achievement Day program for being the most /out standing club. Several members of the dub plan. to attend the husbands supper at Oak Grove Community Building Friday night, November 11. Plans ' were made for a Christmas party in December. In the absence of Mrs. Byrum, home agent, Mrs. Carlton Nixon gave an interesting demonstration on using sewing ma chine attachments with the help of Miss Beulah Evans and Mrs. Clar ence Bass. Young “Bill Jackson”, played by Woody Knight, gets himself into a terrible jam when he is mistaken for a doctor of medicine. His fian ce, “Angela Warren,” played by Peggy Copeland, doesn't allow him to correct this impression. Their uncle, "Henry K. Dodson,” a pa tient, high-tempered and domineer ing person ably portrayed by Steve Burch, thinks he is a surgeon and promises to give Angola and Bill $50,000 for the first life Bill saves. “Miss Holt”, the head nurse of the hospital, disagreeable, and dicta torial, is played by Barbara Bunch. “Patricia Pryor”, an attractive nurse, gracious personality, is play ed by Marjorie Morris. “Dottle Carletnn,” a cute, pert nurse, re played by Shirley Ann Bass. Fran ces Chappell plays the part of “Lottie Nelson,” another pretty and attractive nurse. “Jack Ben son,” an orderly, always joking, is played by Jo P Privott. “Jonathan Paekett.” a patient, is the pet of th,. hospital, and his part is played to perfection by Carroll Peele. “Miss Dovie Finkledink”, a fixy old maid, is played by Anne Pearce. “Dodie Blake”, an undergraduate nurse, is ably portrayed by Faye Boyce. In the presence of numbers of friends of like faith, and of oth u r faiths, J, Paul Holoman was or dained to the Baptist ministry and in the closing prayer, led by him, dedicated completely his life to the preaching of the Gospel.
