Among Service People ! By JOON AYNES j, No column last week, as 1 was ov#r my head with work on tho Of ficers’ Wives Club cook book . . . Semper Fry—Bake And Boil. It’s completed and may be purchased for a dollar through Mrs. A. H. / Ackerman or Mrs. John Baxter J W e’re quite pleased with our ‘‘hand •In" cook book. There are 2615 pes in it ... a book of 95 paxes. The drawings were done by Mrs. Perry P. Mcßobert. The covers were printed by The Chowan Her ald. Mrs. Hollingsworth patiently corrected my typing errors. We appreciate nil the help the men in the S-2 office gave us punching holes in the paper and putting the pages in the folders. Thursday and i Friday of last week saw the coun cil room at the base turned into a book binding room. Mrs. Fred Haines, Mrs. E. V. Kilmer, my mo ther, Mrs. Ira F. Gay, Mrs. Ralph F.ngemann, Mrs. George 7detz, Mrs. H. M. Roth, Mrs. A. A. McVitty and Mrs. A. F. Cruize all partici pated in the tedious task of ar ranging the pages for the books. Well . . . it’s done and we hope you enjoy it. The population of West over Heights was increased by two last week when Major and Mrs. A. L. MrV tears had a little boy on the 13th and I t. Col, and Mrs. David Wiley had a little girl on the loth. MACS-5 had another squadron I party week-end before.last. And MABS-14 had a surprise birthday party for the former com manding officer, Maj. N'. 1). But ler. He was presented with a hunt ing coat which lie has nut to good use already. Capt. and Mrs. Donald Floyd en tertained with a buffet last Friday evening. Their guests were Capt, and Mrs. John Baxter, Lt. and Mrs. A. Miranda. Capt. and Mrs. Ralph I'ngemann and Lt. and Mrs. Jack Wright. Santa Claus has been to the base three times. First, for the Offi cers’ Wives Club Christmas lunch fi J Jast Wednesday. Mrs. John jwed was behind the whiskers giv ing out the presents which were exchanged. It was bint of the love liest lunches given at the dub and was worth all the hostesses’ ef forts. The hostesses were Mrs. Karl Carpenter. Mrs. Dorsie Smith and Mrs. Anthony Miranda. Saturday, again out of the North I'de came Santa for the base Christmas party for the children. Lt. Law of Special Services was in charge. Over a hundred children enjoyed the cartoons that wciv shown and the candy presented by Santa Claus and his helpers, Mrs. Estes, Mrs. Bowen and Mrs. Gris wold. Sunday evening the base chapel had a covered dish dinner for the members of the chapel and (he Sunday School children. There was a Christmas tree and more presents from Santa Claus. O’Hara family left j Edenton last Thursday. Capt.) O’Hara got but. of the service and j will join Pan American Airlines. Until their home is built on Long Island, the children and Mrs. (O’Hara will stay in Washington. T>. Mrs. McDonald has been ill i with pneumonia, but we are happy j to sav she is on the road to recov ery. Capt. and Mr.-c Herbert J. Methodists Observe Fellowship Meeting, Edenton Methodists enjoyed a delightful fellowship meeting in ! tho church annex Friday night, j when a delicious turkey dinner was served by the women of the church.
