State Fair Is; Scheduled Be Held Week Os Oct 1620 Expected to Be Big gest In 103-Year 1 History The huge North Carolina State Fair grounds is becoming a bee hive of activity as workmen make ready for the 1956 edition of North Carolina’s biggest event. The State Fair will be bold October 16 through 20 and is expected to be the biggest in the 103-year history of the event. Dr. J. S. Horton, manager, and his staff, plus hundreds of volun teers, have' been at work for months laying plans to “feature” North Carolina’s rapidly growing and highly important dairy indus try. There will be plenty of enter tainment for all ages at this year’s State Fair. Among the outstand ing entertainment features will be Dorothy Collins and Russell Arms of television’s “Hit Parade”. They will be starred” in the “Hit Parade Revue”. Pat Boone, popular young singer from the Arthur Godfrey TV show, will star, along with oth er big names in the entertainment world, in “Midwestern Hayride”, a high-stepping mixture of popular and hillbilly music. This colorful show will also play in the State Fair arena. George Hamid’s new outdoor musical revue, “Stairway to the Stars” will play nightly at 7:45 in front of the grandstand. There will be harness horse races on three of the five days; auto racOs on Saturday of Fair Week will attract possibly the week’s biggest crowds; James E. Strates Midway and Shows returns with more than 50 rides for adults and children. IN SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY Richard N. Hines, Jr., son of Mr. Jl| and Mrs. R. N. Hines, is enrolled (j in the University of North Carolina M| .School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill, j Hines attended school at Vir- l ginia Episcopal School, Lynchburg, Va. His pre-dental work was done I at the University of North Caro lina. The four year program of the School of Dentistry leads to a D.D.S. degree. Hines is now in his first year of the course.
