Davis continue to hold the lead in the bridge marathon sponsored by the Chowan Hospital Auxiliary. : The 13th round was completed last week, with the following scores for the five leaders: First—Mrs. Earl Goodwin and Mrs. J. W. I)avis. Score, 48,200. Second—Dr. Richard Hardin and Joe Thorud. Score, 46,140. Third—Cecil Fry and W. T. Har ry. . Score, 39,680. Fourth—Mrs. W. B. Rosevear and Mrs. L. A. Patterson. Score, I • 37,630. Fifth—Mrs. Richard Goodwin and Earl Goodwin. Score, 37,140. With only six more rounds to be played in the tournament, interest is mounting in the games each week. Mrs. George Hoskins is now serving as secretary of the mara thon and all scores should be re ported to her after each game. H. A. Cam pen Speaks To Class At Columbia H. A. Campen of Campen’s Jew elers on Tuesday spoke to the home economics class of the Columbia High School, directing his remarks to sterling ware, silver plate, cry stal and chinaware. He pointed out quality, method of manufacturing and trend of designs. Those attending the lecture were: Mrs. Hopkins, Mrs. Mary Ann Combs, teacher of the class, Wan da Woodley, Dora Davenport, Doris Spencer, Kay Melson, Peggy Kirk, Joann Cahoon, Ann Spencer, Sue Snell, Mozella Brickhouse, Madge Etta Morris, Minnie Lou Hopkins. She succeeds Miss Alice Langston, who resigned due to her approaching marriage early in March in Gofldsboro. Miss Richards, who began her duties Monday of this week, is a native of Zebulon and graduated at 3 East Carolina College at the mid term semester. It is also her first ' teaching assignment.
