Miss Lena Jones, who presented the speaker, said, “Mrs. Fletcher needs no introduction to this group, nor to any other educational group. She is well known as North Caro lina’s First Lady of Colonial His tory.” Prior to Mrs. Fletcher’s talk, a moment of memories was led by Mrs. Mabel Evans Jones of Man teo, who spoke of the late Miss Hattie Parrot, a State founder of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Mrs. Jones based her thoughts on the poem “Crossing The Bar.” The meetings were held in the little schoolhouse on the west corn er grounds of Bandon. This build ing dates back to the early days of 1732, when it was used as the first boys’ classical boarding school in America and the famous Parson Earl the headmaster. Replicas of early Colonial days are still in use in the building. The next meeting of Pi Chapter Will be held in October at Nags Head.
