PAGE TWO —SECTJOH 0«* 'Annual Christmas Party-Parade Today Continued from Pag* I— Section 1 Among other features of the parade will be Miss Janet Bunch, football queen of the Edenton Junior-Senior High School, who will reign as the BPW Christ mas Queen. She is the daugh ter of Mr.' and Mrs. Haywood Bunch. Also participating in the parade will be little Shirley Alexander, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. E. C. Alexander. She will reign as queen of the Ele mentary School and is a second grade pupils. A Christmas party will be held on the Court House Green for the children of Edenton and Chowan County. Immediately following the parade they will pass through roped-off lanes to receive their Christmas bags containing candy, nuts, an or ange and apple, after which they will pay a visit to St. Nick at his reviewing stand. Charlie Swanner will act as master of ceremonies. Prizes for the floats this year will be $25 for best float, sls for second best and third place j will receive $lO, with $5 going i for the best decorated pet. Members of participating bands will be treated to refreshments at the Hotel Joseph Hewes Cof fee Shop during and after the party. Two Veteran Officials Bow Out Os Office Continued from Page 1, Section 1 sworn in Mr. Webb had this to say: “I have enjoyed serving as a County Commissioner. I have served under seven chairmen and I am very appreciative for being permitted to fill the office for so long a time. My experience bears i out the fact that during these many years all of the County Commissioners have been a group of splendid gentlemen. I leave with sort of a feeling of sorrow, but I feel that in my successor you will have an able and effici ent Commissioner.” The Commissioners, at their own expense, presented a beau tiful silver bowl to Mr. Webb in appreciation of his long and faithful service to Chowan Coun ty. The bowl will be appropriate ly engraved. Mr. Spires said it was one time in his life that he was without words to express his feelings. “In my 17 1 2 years of service with the County Commissioners and the people of the countv, I have en joyed the full cooperation of all county officials and I bespeak for my successor the same splendid cooperation. Three Aces Named On All-Conference Elevei Three members of the Edenton Aces were named to the Albe marle All Conference squad by conference coaches. The three were Robert White, quarterback, who was referred to as a pint-siz ed 130-pounder who was a razzle-• dazzle performer for the crack Edenton team. The other two were Charlie Small, center, and Marvin Ashley, end. The all-conference team chosen was as follows: Ends —Marvin Ashley of Eden ton and Bill Tucker of Hertford.
