CAMPEN I ii I Woolen Blankets. Avoid ex cessive washing action, either by machine or by hand. Extreme agitation causes shrinkage in woolens. The procedure is simi lar for either hand washing or machine washing. Since wet blankets are bulky and heavy to handle the use of a machine is suggested. Lukewarm water is best since wool dyes are not al ways completely fast. Let the blankets soak in suds for 15-20 minutes without wash ing. Then, machine wash for not more than one to two' minutes. Use lightest wringer pressure, or if the washer uses the spin-dry method, use the full spin period. Rinse in clear water. Avoid over handling during rinsing. Curtains: Do not let curtains get heavily soiled. It is very im portant to always shake dust loose from curtains and repair weak spots before washing. Cur tains should be soaked half an hour in suds. White or color fast curtains can be washed in hot water, otherwise lukewarm water 1 is recommended. Stain Removal: First rule for success in removing a spot to cjo it when the spot is fresh. Many, fresh spots can be washed out in lukewarm water. The method to use depends on the kind of spot and fabric. For detailed infcrma tion on stain removal, order Farmer’s Bulletin No. 1474, "Stain Removal from Fabrics Home Methods.’’ from U. S. Department of Agriculture, Washington 25. D. C. Hand Wash Lingerie—The gen eral rules for hand washing of colored garments such as hosiery, socks, lingerie, blouses an d scarves are quite simple: 1. Use lukewarm water. 2. Use mild soap or detergent to prepare suds. 3. Wash quickly (do not soak) and gently squeeze suds through and through the fabric. If badly soiled apply soap or detergent right to spots with fingertips, or —Schenlcq Golden j age mBL BRAND ’ } \ /^\\A 'Gin t $2-30 /§ss*/$. “pint ! l z- a, : V l7 »/c</ Ijkj I $0.65 I:- - • 1 n i & 4/5 Q ‘- k " pti SCHENLCY DISTIUUS CO. It is true that hot water cleans j faster than warm, but for fabrics , which are not strictly color fast,! warm water is safer. Slips—Don’t let your slips get so dirty that they need to be ''scrubbed. Even dark slips need: regular washing.
