PAGE TWO MHBCTIO9 VWO County News By MRS. ROLAND EVANS The Chowan Home Demon stration Club met Monday night at the Chowan Community Building at 7:30 o’clock. Mrs. Roland Evans gave the devo tional from the third chapter of Micah and Mrs. Corprew led in prayer. Mrs. Elliott took some sewing out to be done for the hospital. The club was re minded of many dates coming up in the future, including: Christmas festival November 29 at Chowan Community Building at 7:30 P. M., at which time the club will be hostess; Achieve ment Day, October 26; husbands’ supper, November 15; County Fair, October 3-8; State Fair, October 10-15; bloodmobile, Sep tember 30. Each club is to pay $5.00 per club on expenses of a UN dele gate. In order to make up a club meeting, if missed, anyone can go to .the office of the home agent October 17 and 24 at 2 P. M. Miss Pauline Calloway gave a demonstration on window hard ware dealing with kinds of fix tures, rods, etc., in putting up curtains. Mrs. A. S. Bush was hostess. CHo«|jk News By CATHERINE AMAN Assistant Home Economics Agent The Edenton Intermediate 4-H Club met for the first meeting of the 1960-61. school year. This club is composed of members from the sixth grades in the Edenton Elementary School. The first item of business was the election of officers for the coming year. These officers are: President, Ivy Lowe; vice presi dent, Cal Ghodwin; secretary, Linda Ashley; reporters, Ronnie Smith and Emily Powell; song leaders, Rickey Hardin and Mike Overton. The Chowan County Fair was discussed and 4-H’ers were urg ed to enter some of their pro ject work for exhibit. Mem bers were also reminded that it is time to turn in project rec ords to the agents. The Intermediate Club mem bers selected their projects for the coming year and discussed the requirements for the vari ous projects. An Edenton Junior Club was formed with members coming from the three fifth grades in the Edenton Elementary School. A total of 38 boys and girls joined this junior club and of ficers will be elected at the Oc tober meeting. The community clubs should be completing records for com petition in the community 4-H Club contest. The books must be in the Extension agents’ of fice by November 1. Pri vott were, present to discuss an infringement on a town right of way by Mr. ’Shelton Moore for the construction of a swimming j pool at the Eden Motel. Mr. I Mills informed the Council that ' Mr. Moore has used a portion of a town right of way to con struct a portion of a swimming pool and that Mr. Moore did not secure a building permit to con struct the swimming pool. Mr. Privott informed the Council that the Town has, according to records in the office of the Register of Deeds, a 25 foot right of way adjacent to the Norfolk Southern Railway fight of . way j running frpm N.
