President Lane presented a re
port on the accomplishments and
the financial condition of the

operational expenses amounting

..that assets of the corporation
have grown to $1,322,005.

year and plans for the coming
year.

BPW Club Planning
For Christmas Party

which will be hung in the club
room.
Mrs. Smith announced that the
club will again sponsor the
Christmas parade and that plans
are now being formulated. Mrs.
Alice Twiddy is chairman of this
propect.
The Birthday Calendar sale
will be in charge of Miss Mil
dred Munden, chairman, with
members of the club assisting.
Members of the Woman’s Club
and the Junior Chamber of
Commerce will also assist in this
project.
Miss Beulah Perry, finance
chairman, presented several
budget recommendations which
were accepted by the club.

Mrs. Lena Leary gave a re-,

meeting. She explained the El

with several recommendations
as presented at the meeting.
Membership was particularly
stressed.
Mrs. Laura Ferguson, hospi
tality chairman, outlined plans
for the celebration of National
Business Women’s Week which
is October 2-8. Climaxing this
event will be a tea held Sun
day, October 9, at the Barker
house. She also announced that
the club will again sell popcorn
at the Chowan County Fair, and
volunteers Were lined up to
work the concession.
An interesting 'program on
“Membership Orientation” was
presented, with Miss Mildred
Munden as chairman. Miss Pau
line Calloway, program coordi
nation chairman, gave a resume
of the history and objectives of
the Federation of Business and
Professional Women’s Clubs.
Miss Catherine Aman presented
the highlights and advantages of
being a member of the local
club.
It was announced that the
Edenton Club will be hostess for
the district spring meeting to be
held here in March.
The October meeting of the
local club will be held in the
Barker house. This will be a|
dinner meeting with Mrs. Goldie
Niblett, chairman of public af
fairs, in charge. The meeting
| adjourned with the reading of

To be eligible to win, a fam
ily must present a list of all
articles which every member of
the family entered. “The easi
est way to do this,” says Mr.
Marsh, “is to make a list of
everything to be entered in the
fair before you leave home.
After all entries are registered
and entered, give the list to the
entry clerk. Keep a copy. Be
sure to keep all of your claim
tags, as they must be presented
when articles are removed from
the fair. This special prize is
not listed in the premium list
as there was not room, so read
these instructions carefully be
fore making your entries.”
Mr. Marsh further states,
“with more than $1,400 being
offered as prize money at the
fair this year, we are expecting
| more participation than ever be-
I fore.”
