The theme f r June’s program is “Big Swim.” Both the hike and cookout will replace the regular Monday night meeting. Scoutmaster Habit is planning to take the troop to summer camp for a week at Pipsico Scout Reservation near Surry, Va. A date has not been sched uled, but Mr. Habit is trying to secure a week in July. Unlike last year, when the troop went to camp without its own leader, Scoutmasters Habit and Bass plan to split the week between them to insure that the local boys have their own adult j' ’ ' ' : in camp at all times. Both local Scout leaders ex tend an invitation for all boys over 11 years of age to attend any of the Scout functions and all who join the troop. within the next few weeks will be eligible to go to camp. Mr. Bass was very active in Scouting in the Covered Wagon Council before coming back to Edenton, and attended the Na tional Jamboree at Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1960. f CIVIC CALENDAR Continued from Page 1, Section 1 Chowan County Farm Bureau will hold a membership meeting Tuesday night June 12, at 7:30 o'clock at the Wards Commun ity Building. Enterprise community will hold a cookout tonight (Thurs day) at 7:30 o'clock at the Zell Ward cabin. Edenton's Rotary Club will meet this (Thursday) afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Parish House. William H. Coffield. Jr., Post No. 9280, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will meet Tuesday night at 8 o'clock. Chowan Tribe No. 12. Improve ed Order of Red Men, will meet Monday night at 8 o'clock. Chamber of Commerce fishing contest is now in progress and will continue through June 16. Edenton Lions Club will meet Monday night at 7 o'clock at the Edenton Restaurant. The American Legion Auxili ary will meet tonight (Thursday) at 8 o'clock at the home of Mrs. I James Bond. Edenton firemen will hold their monthly dinner meeting tonight (Thursday) at 7 o'clock at the fire station. William H. Coffield, Jr..
