Sanford To Visit Chowan Schools Continued from Page 1, Section 1 to attend the city addresses. Mr. Mayo will preside at the assemblies and the bands will play before and after the governor’s addresses. According to Superintendent of County Schools W. J. Taylor, the Gov ernor will address the students at Chowan High School. Mr. Wood is again expected to in troduce Sanford. Platform guests at the county schools will be the county com missioners, members of the coun ty school board, and both coun ty legislators. Due to the lack of space in Chowan High School’s auditorium, the public will not be invited. Governor Sanford will arrive in Currituck County on Septem ber 4, tour schools there, dedi cate the ferry, and then go to Elizabeth City for a visit to the Hayes Corp. plant. ’After spend ing the night in Elizabeth City, Sanford will tour Pasquotank and Perquimans schools before ecoming to Chowan. f. The governor will return to > Raleigh after the White Oak i visit. • The visit will be sponsored I by the North Carolina Commit tee for Better Schools in the Al ' bemarle area, and is a resump tiion of Sanford’s efforts .to build increased public awareness and support of progress heeded in the public schools.
