Eyer, sanitarian for the District Health Department, calls attention to the trailer par’, ing ordinance which was adopted in 1957. “Sanitation, as related to the operation of trailer parking,” says Mr. Eyer, “requires more than a clean, comfortable and at tractive mobile home. It in volves a safe water supply, ap proved disposal of sewage, trash and garbage disposal, adequate lighting, as well as insect and rodent control. There is a defi nite need for general guidance in the planning and operation of trailer courts, so the construc tion, operation and maintenance of these areas will comply with health regulations, thus being. satisfactory to individuals using courts, the court owners, and the residents of adjacent areas. “Due to the anticipated influx of military and civilian person nel at Naval Air Facility, Har vey's Point, Hertford, the Dis trict Board of Health adopted a trailer parking ordinance in If 7. This ordinance has been r ently amended to satisfactori -1 cover the larger mobile homes new being used. The Health District ordinance | c. mes a trailer court as any, I t of ground upon which two! c more trailer coaches occupied frr dwelling or sleeping purposes are located. Each trailer park-j i.'g space must have a minimum of 2,400 square feet of space. An inspection of proposed site and a permit prior to construc tion of trailer court are neces sary. It is, therefore, requested that any person or persons con sidering to construct a trailer court, or parking individ lal trailers, first contact the lo:al health department. “The Health District’s Septic Tank Ordinance covers the sew age disposal for individual trail F.D.C.
