Minutes Os County] Board Os Education J July 1, 1963 The Chowan County Board of Education held its regular meet-, ing on July Ist, 1963. Chair man Potter called the meeting to order and designated J. M. El liott as acting secretary for the meeting. The resignation of W. J. Tay lor was accepted. A motion that a letter of appreciation for his 30 years of faithful and construc , tive service be mailed to Mr. Taylor, and incorporated in the minutes, was duly passed. Minutes for the meetings which took place on June 3, June 8, and June 14 were read and ap . proved. The June 6, 1963 Coun ty Accountant’s Report was pre -1 sented showing a balance of SB,- , 540.56 as of May 3, 1963. Lunch room reports from the , Chowan and White Oak Schools were examined and approved. A record of all vouchers drawn ! during the month of June was - approved. It was decided to investigate the failure to receive the SIO.OO fee per night for the use of the ■ Chowan High School Baseball i Park, and to attempt to collect all fees due. The definite purpose of this meeting i is to consider various applica tions for Superintendent of the Chowan County Schools. Chair man Potter presented the names of seven applicants along with their supporting recommenda tions. On motion of Eugene Jor dan and seconded by G. H. As bell, the Board, by unanimous vote, elected Mr. C„ C. Walters, presently Principal of Nashville High School, Nashville, N. C., as Superintendent of Chowan Coun ty Schools for prompt assump tion of said duties. Immediate ly after the foregoing action of the Board, the Chairman advised Mr. Walters over the telephone of his election ahd obtained his acceptance. There being no further busi ness the Chairman declared the meeting adjourned. Members present: G. H. As bell, J. M. Elliott, Marvin Evans, Eugene Jordan, O. C. Long and G. B- Potter. G. B.
