In order to stimulate sale of bonds in the Third War Loan drive, the Edenton Rotary and Lions Clubs entered into a con test to see which club could be responsible for the sale of the most bonds. Edenton High School's Glee Club was organized with Char lotte Bunch elected as president. D. M. Warren, president of the Bank- of Edenton, notified J. G. Campen. Chairman of the County War Finance Committee, that Chowan went over the top with sales amounting to $417,280 with the drive scarcely over the half way mark. The county's quota was $417,000. With interest waning in Eden ton's Air Observation Post, Miss Lucille Clark was appoint ed assistant chief observer, fol lowing which 20 more persons expressed willingness to serve as observers. Drawbridge Will Be Closed For Repairs Tuesday, October 15 The drawspan in the Norfolk Southern Railroad Drawbridge across Albemarle Sound near Edenton and Mackeys, N. C., will be closed to vessel traffic from 7:30 A. M., to 7:30 P. M., EST, on Tuesday, October 15, for the purpose of making re pairs to the drawspan machin ery. Masters of vessels desiring passage through this bridge should schedule their operations accordingly during this period.
