nrm PAGE TWO "Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men;" (I Cor. 1:25). Not too long ago I had the opportunity to talk with a fine lady who was slowly dying of cancer. She asked me a perplex ing question, "Why do I have to die such a young and hard death when my whole life has been so full of problems and sorrow?” And I might also ask, “why?” Or there was the university student who had come to the end of his academic career. After many years of study he had made a brilliant record, won many honors. The following week there was awaiting him a promising position. The next morning he was to be married to his childhood sweetheart. Then on his way to commencement he was killed. Why? There was the very sick child who needed his father’s help so very much, yet the father passed away in. the midst of the child’s 1 1TTlt 11 (1 k|i little check now .. . can FOR THE FASTEST JK I STARTS IT “ Mk *“ v * a lot of troubu la TAKES BATTERY JjK ter. Why? / Why does God allow one child to be born with a bright future into a land of freedom and plen ty; then on the other side of the world at the same instant anoth er child is horn on a Chinese houseboat and faces a life of poverty and starvation. “Why” we say, why does God allow these things to take place? It seems as though He almost lets us down. Many times I have blankly faced these questions. Then the words of Paul almost jump out at me . . . "Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men . . . But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise.” I offer ho explana tion as to "why” God allows certain things to happen which makes no sense to us, I only can agree with PauL Somewhere in His infinite wisdom God knows the answers to these puzzling THE CHOWAN HBMUUD. Friends and relatives are invited to at tend. questions and He knows the rea son why certain things happen. Perhaps we would not under stand even if He told us “why”. We really have no human right to ask God “why”. This is like a first grader questioning and doubting the intelligence of a genius such as Dr. Albert Ein stein. Only God knows “why”, we only have to learn to say, “Thy will be done”.
