pany store which had been dam
aged by one of the most destruc
tive fires ever experienced in

Twenty-six colored youths
from Chowan County ware sent
to Fort Bragg for pre-induction
physical examinations.

Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell
and Washington.
Total cost of the survey will
be $34,000 with the 10 counties
share being SIO,OOO, federal gov
ernment grant $20,000 and pri
vate sources in the area, $4,000.

During the lengthy meeting
the Councilmen agreed to chan
nel traffic at Broad and Church
Streets and Broad and Queen
Streets. This traffic pattern will
go into effect when streets are
repaved this summer.
