Jaycettes Install 1 Officers For Year Mrs. Ethel LaVoie Is Named “Jaycette of the Year” On Saturday night, September 19, the Jaycettes held their in stallation at the Edenton Res taurant. The principal speaker for the occasion was Warren Twiddy, a life-time member of the Edenton Jaycees. His speech was on the Jaycette -breed and J he challenged each member to I live by this creed daily in order, to become better citizens of their! community. j He then installed the following j officers for the 1964-65 year: President, Mrs. Jack Habit; first vice president, Mrs. Bill Boyce; second vice president, Mrs. Charles Morgan; secretary, Mrs. John Jethro; corresponding sec retary, Mrs. Frank Roberts; par liamentarian, Mrs. Aubrey Hard ison; directors, Mrs. Tony Miley and Mrs. Leo LaVoie. I A highlight of the evening was presentation of the “Jaycette of the Year” award to Mrs. Ethel LaVoie. Mrs. LaVoie has been an active member of the club since its organization in 1962 and served as its first president. This award was presented by Mrs. Wayne Rawls, outgoing pres ident. After installation ceremonies were completed, a dance was held at Arrowhead Beach and Boat Club clubhouse. Music was furnished by J. C. Griffin and his combo. Navv enlisted men award ed framed citations for their parts in preparation for D-Day. They figured prominently in the task of preparing for the amphibious attack on the enemy in France.
