Funeral ser vices for Mrs. Mattie Harden White, 75, who died January 23 at her home in Merry Hill, were held at Merry Hill Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Frank Cordrey, assisted by Rev. Oscar Turner of Washing ton, N. iC., a former pastor. She was the daughter of the late John S. Harden and Mrs. Marjorie Henry Harden and the Widow of T. E. White. She served as president of the Woman’s Missionary Society for many years, also as secretary and treasurer for years and was a faithful member until her ill ne:s 11 months ago. She is survived by one son. J-o-'M Ohesley White of Merry Hill; two daughters, Mrs. Virgie Baker and Mrs. Jimmie P. Love of Merry Hill; one sister, Mrs. C. W. Byrum of Windsor; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Active pallbearers were E. J. Pruden, Jr., Marvin Cobb, Brax ton Cobb, Harry Taylor, Dalton Williford and George Harden. STANDS READY FOR RESTORATION T. e old Dillard Mill at Tyner is not included in the 1965 Pilgrimage of Historic Edenton and Countryside, although ii has a colorful background end stands as a symbol of the old water-powered grain mills of the entire Albemarle area. Built in 1762 by Richard Brownridge, Dillard Mill has been out of actual operation for more than a decade. It is now in a bad state of repair and would be a good project for a hislory mindel individual or group. It could be made into a real show-place as Chowan County be comes a tourist center of Northeastern North Carolina. the surfacing of Leigh, Barker, portions of Williamson Road, Cypress, Carteret and Freemason Si eers is hereby declared to be correct and is hereby confirmed in accordance with Section 160- 88 of the General Statutes of North Carolina. 2.
