PAGE TWO i —sec. cure Utte Theater Program Is Hit “Am Evening of Prose and Poetry” by Ed*nton Little Thea ter proved to be a real tonic lot' the frigid winter weather. To say it was well received wouJd be a gross understatement. The sets were simple. The lighting wia.r' adequate. The cast was small. So was the audience. L’ul the content of the program was varied and exciting and the presentation by the readers was a sheer masterpiece. Tone for the program was sel by narrator Rey. Cliff-Sheaf. Me sat. ih" K;s armed chair at' the left Side us the St. Paul's Epis copal- Church Parish House and introduced each selection as if 1,..* was telling his children a lack.rue story Tub readers, Ross an-l Frances Liglis,' Jiirtny Ricks, Jane Holmes, Shelia Leary and Dick Lawman provided the voices for such works as “Brutus’ Oration” from Julius Caesar, “Epigram" by Christopher Marlowe, Robert Ktxsi's “The Road Not Taken.’’ “Dieath Be Not Proud" by John Donne and Alfred Lord Tenny son’s “The Charge of the Light Brigade.” ■ One of the most thrilling read ings was Shelia Leary and Ross Ingli.s in the murder scene from “Othello” by Williams Shakes peare. When they had finished their reading, which was com plimented by their English uc ceht, tike audience of some (ill people pau-cd momentarily be fore giving them a well deserv ed applause. It was a sign that t.ife .eadets had completely cap tured the mood of the scene and carried the uudiepee along with them. lvirs. Elaine Williams directed the unusual presentation, a first iof the ‘lcca! group. Jasper Has sell was in charge of lighting while Mrs. Angie Wright served tea and cookies during inter mission. The Edenton Little Theater-, a rapidly expanding organization, has been highly successful in thp two public presentations. If "An Evening of Prose and Poetry” is c fair example of the talent hereabouts, the public should call for more of the same.
