May 1. The sale will be held on the playground in front of the school. Details of the event will be released at a later date. How ever, plans are being made to have food available and free en tertainment. Properly Is ShslM At Country Oub Sheriff Earl Goodwin is still seeking clues into the break-in at Chowan Golf and Country Club Saturday night ‘in which I golf equipment and beer was taken. The total value of the loss could run to $-,OJO, the sheriff said. Three sets of golf clubs and eight cases of beer was stolen. Sheriff Goodwin and R. F. El liott went to play golf Sunday afternoon and discovered the break-in. Approximately 75 sets of clubs are stored in the build ing that was broken into. Sheriff Goodwin said it is possible that other clubs were stolen. An immediate inventory re vealed that clubs belonging to Elliott, J. H. Conger, Sr., and Charlie Wood were missing. At the same time thieves en tered Townson Lumber Company and an old lumber company warehouse. Police were investi gating these two break-ins. Grant Is Won By Nancy O’Neal Nancy O’Neal has won the John A. Holmes Schoolmaster’s Scholarship. It is valued at SIOO. She won the grant in compe tition with students in the 10- county Northeastern area of North Carolina. Miss O'Neal, a senior at John A. Holmes High School, was a special guest Tuesday night at the Schoolmaster’s regular meet ing at Grandy Elementary School. She is an outstanding member of her class, having served as chief marshal last year, an offi cer of the Honor Society and a member of Tri-Hi-Y. She at tended the Governor’s School in 1963.
