Paul Lassiter, golf pro at the club, said there are five flights with matches being played each week for four weeks. The finals, which in clude 36 holes, will be play ed during the two weeks fol lowing match play. Tom Bass won medalist honors with a 36-hole quali fying score of 154. Phil Harrell was second with a score of -56. Cecil W. Fry is club cham pion and did not have to qualify for the tournament. Lassiter said one of the most improved golfers at the club is Robert Ashley. In last year's tourney Ashley was in the fourth flight. This year he will be playing with the top golfers in the cham pionship flight, having shot the best round of his career— a 79—during qualifying. Lassiter, son of Mrs. Rade K. Lassiter of 703 McMullan Avenue, Edenton, has re ceived his first permanent U. S. Air Force duty as signment after completing basic military training at Lackland AFB, Texas. Airman Lassiter has been designated for training and duty as a personnel special ist at Francis E. Warren AFB, Wyoming. He becomes a member of the Strategic Ai r Command, America’s long-range nuclear bomber and missile force. The airman is a 1964 grad uate of John A. Holmes High School. Auditions Set For Talent Show The biggest audition show ever staged in Eastern North Carolina will be held Friday night at National Guard ar mory here. The show will begin at 7:30 P. M. Talent from throughout this section of the state will compete for a chance to per form at the forthcoming Cho wan County Fair. The 16 top acts will com pete at the fair for a free trip to New York and a chance to audition for the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour. The preliminary contest is a first in this area and the fair show is expected to be an important part of this year’s undertaking. Theiss, a veteran swimfning instructor, said young Robert is the youngest swimmer she has ever passed in this classifi cation. Robert ,son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Inglis, is definitely the youngest swimmer in Cho wan County to pass the de manding test.
