The
Roundup
The recent television spe
cial, Friend, Foe or Fantasy,
in my opinion seemed to be
a deliberate attempt to dis
credit the phenomena of fly
ing saucers—or UFO’s. To
me, there also appeared to
be an atmosphere of partiali
ty threading through the
story. The case for UFO’s
was not openly attacked but
it was played down. Ridi
cule of flying saucers was
not used, but it was implied.
And, to me, the whole show
appeared to be a staged pre
sentation With officialdom on
the sidelines pulling the
strings.

when Dr. Martin Luther King
spoke here recently? Inci
dentally, drawing one of the
largest crowds ever gathered
in Edenton . . . Just curious,
that’s all.
I shudder to think what
would have been the reaction
of old time school officials,
principals, supers, admini
strators, if they were con
fronted with the flagrant
contempt for their authority
that took place at the Uni
versity of Chicago a few
days ago. I fear there would
have been some bloody noses
and broken heads—those old
boys were stern and brooked
no interference from mere
students. But; how times
have changed . . . For . the
better? In this respect, I
doubt very much.
Will Premier Ky turn out
to be another Castro? He
sure has all the earmarks of
a potential dictator in the
making, and is waiting for
just the right moment to
clamp down. Remember, Cas
tro had everybody fooled,
even us, but he eventually
showed his true color red.
And if Ky does manage to
pull off some kind of a coup
and get control of Vietnam,
it is going to leave us in the
middle, and with no course
left but to make an ignomini
ous withdrawal.
