The Owens family of Hobbsville had a birthday dinner for their mother on Sunday at Marvin Evans cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Layton and family spent the weekend at Buxton and Hatteras. £! Motion by Mr. Byrum, seconded by Mr. Ricks and unanimously carried that radio announcements in connection with the water situation be started imme diately. Chairman Jesse L. Har rell delegated Mr. Earn hardt as Sewer Commis sioner, Mr. Ricks as Elec tric Coommissioner, Mr. Conger as Water Com missioner and vice chair man and Mr. Byrum as < Finance Chairman. He stated that these facilities were used over the Fourth of July by a boat from Rhode Island. The hydrant installation along with two two-inch -- hose connection hydrants have also been installed and are in use at the Fire Station. Mr. Hines discussed with the Board of Public Works several operating problems, suggesting methods of handling them and was di rected to dispose of them as outlined.
