FACE TWO—A [BROAD STREET BULLETIN -by - Kate Thank God for another day, A chance to begin again, To erase the mistakes of yesterday, A chance to make amends. Thank you, God, for a day of health And to be with those I hold dear, Thank you for letting me be myself And to keep my conscience clear. I'm just wondering whether we, in our quest for material things, can’t "see the forest for the trees,” so to speak. We get so involved in every day living and sometimes so engrossed in ourselves that we miss out on so many of the wonderful but simple things of life. To just sit quietly beside a window watching the birds and just plain dreaming gives me a restful mind and a renewal of my zest for life. Before you read this, we —our Eastern Star ladies— will have had another food sale Wednesday morning. We’re having lots of fun, seeing so many people and having so many of our friends come by to buy some of our goodies. Last week we had such pro ducts as homemade bread, pecan pies’, cocoanut pies and cake, lemon meringue pies, vegetable soup and candied yams. This week promises to be even better with ham biscuits, apple sauce cakes and mince pies. So—if you’re interested in any home-cooked or baked foods—just call 482-2438 or come by the building next to the Western Auto Store —we’ll be there each week. However, 1 must tell you that if you’ve ever trav eled in a fog so thick that visibility is near zero, you will understand why this is late. We met our child ren Tuesday night at the airport in Norfolk and the plane as usual was late. We finally started for home at 1:30 A. M. and traveled in a dense fog all the way, reaching home at 4:30 A. M. tired, but oh— so glad to be HOME. Hints To make an easy but beautifully decorated cake, frost with fluffy white frosting and immediately drop different shades of! food coloring on the white icing—a drop here and there. With a toothpick, ] swirl each colored drop and then place a candle in the middle of the swirL Increase the efficiency of any closet by hanging peg board as a closet lining— it will accommodate count less hanging articles. For adding zing to your roast, baste with gingerale* Ordinary black pepper in a clothes closet makes an excellent moth repellant. You may keep rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan by first rubbing it with the rind of a lemon. A tall Chinn Ad! Foe Quick Results, Use TOR CHOWAN HERALD. EDENTON, NORTH CAROLINA.
