For as the say ing rightly goes, “He who sings prays twice.” THE CHOWAN HERALD, EDENTON, NORTH CAROLINA THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 1968. Holmes High News By AMY O’NEAL John A. Holmes High School has been a busy in stitution this week with something happening al most every afternoon. Mon day, the Tri-Hi-Y met and decided to have cake raffles at the remaining home basketball games as a money-making pro ject Tuesday, the juniors ordered essentials for the Junior-Senior prom and Edenton hosted Bertie for the basketball games. On Thursday, the Acelet and Junior Varsity basketball teams defeated the Central Green Waves at home games. Since returning to school after the Christmas vaca tion, Mr. Fry has had a meeting with all the girls in the school. Due to de struction of rest room fix tures and the long-existant problem of smoking in the rest rooms, smoking per mits have been issued to girls in grades 9 through 12 whose parents are in agreement. The adminis tration has made a re ciprocal agreement that if the girls will take care of the facilities, the adminis tration will provide im proved ones. As of yet, no changes have been made. The student body has not been informed as to wheth er Mr. Fry’s additional plea for more students to eat lunch in the lunch room has had results; this has also been a “bone of contention” between the students and administra tion. Thus everything stands at a draw.
