CONGRESSMAN THANKS SUPPORTERS—Rep. Walter B. Jones, left of the
First Congressional District, was honored at an appreciation dinner Friday night
in Greenville. Among the 20 cilixem from Chowan County attending the func
tion was Mayor John A. Mitchener, Jr., shown talking with Rep. Jones. The
congressman was presented a new automobile and a certified check for S3oo—
amount of his filing fee. He announced at the dinner that he would be a
candidate for re-election. More than 1,000 supporters from his 20-county district
attended.
