PAGE TWO u-A ® BROAD STREET BULLETIN Kate We must try to face the future With an optimistic view; A sincere iaith will help us In everything we do. Sometimes it’s hard to keep faith in our future, especially in times of trouble or illness. But it you should feel low and discouraged, just look out your window and see the fiowers blooming and lis ten to the birds singing and you’ll know that in spite of yourself, faith kept you going through the cold winter, knowing that eventually spring would be here with new hope. Per sonally, this beautiful weather has done a lot for my morale, and even though I may face some cloudy days ahead, I'll try to remember and keep Faith. Several weeks ago I wrote a small paragraph giving some of my views on the Vietnam war and I called it “senseless.” This week I received a letter from two Navy men who are serving on a submarine tender out of New York, giving me their views, too, and slightly criticising my viewpoint. However, I still thing it is a senseless continuation of fighting, when somewhere there must be a solution for peace. And I DO THINK IT’S SENSELESS to send so many of our men and boys to Vietnam, especially when there seems no end to it and most reasons for it are vague. As for “young brides” they are against it also. It’s so nice to receive cards and letters from peo ple who read this column. Many times I’ve felt that I’m just taking up space in the paper. Then I get encouraging letters —so I keep on trying to write. Pleasb, if I write some thing you DON’T agree with, let me know about it, too. MEN! This is the time ct year when your wives will again get the “Nesting Fever,” so be patient. This sounds like I mean a com ing influx of new babies. I don’t mean that at all. What I’m thinking about is “re-doing” the house for spring and summer. After being more or less shut-in all winter, we ladies get tired of looking at the sameness of things, so we want to switch about and sometimes get new furni ture and furnishings for the home. It’s exciting, even if we can’t always buy new things, to change the furniture around in a room and do all the neces ATTENTION! PEANUT GROWERS We Are Now Open and Ready To Shell Your Seed Peanuts. Carolyn White Raines, who now lives in New York, sent me a copy of the following poem, which she heard Rev. Norman Vincent Peele give recently. It was nice of Carolyn to send me this poem, which goes along with keeping Faith: When things go wrong, as they sometimes will When the road you’re treading seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit. ( Life is queer with its twists and turns, As everyone of us some times learns, And many a failure comes about When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow, You might succeed with another blow. i Success is failure turned inside out; The silver tint of the clouds of doubt And you never can tell how close you are. It may be near when it seems afar, So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit. It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.
