BROAD STREET BULLETIN ■ by - Our friend the Wren is a busy fellow, Quick as a flash in the tree. Bursting forth in song at the slightest whim Giving. I'm sure, unknown to him, A song of happiness to you and me. It's just impossible to teel worried and blue when out of the clear blue sky the wren’s joyous song comes as though his heart will burst with happiness. It's almost as if someone tells us to be still and listen. I just can’t help but be lieve, from recent observa tions, that there’s begin ning a period of retrover sion of morals here in our country. Perhaps, if this is really true, it’s a direct re sult of much violence and the awakening of people, especially the younger folk. Many people are now actu ally fighting obscenity and violence in television, lit erature and movies. Many people are beginning to re alize that a good time can be had by a group or in dividually. without drunk enness and other forms of repulsive behavior. This past week at the beach we noticed a large tent on the 158 by-pass, which looked, in passing, like some sort of a carnival. Several times we almost stopped to look, but didn't and now TALK ABOUT A COMBINE! Lilliston 1500 Pea nut Combine is better than anything we've seen," say the Viver ettes. These young people, two students at Wesleyan Col lege of Rocky Mount, one young minister, one theo logical student and another young man the son of a Methodist minister, all especially talented in the world of music, gather each evening for a song fest cf ballads and many old and familiar songs, and at times requesting the audience to join in with the singing. Now this is FREE and it's the best evening’s enter tainment you could get and really enjoy. I would say that more than half of the audience was young people who seemed to be having a wonderful time singing. This is not a church affair as such, although it is sponsored by good people who are interested in young people having a good time and proving that all people can have a good time in such surroundings. Please go and see for yourself— you’ll come away happier, I know, and by the way— get yourself and the family a “Two- headed Freak’’ while you’re there—in case you don’t understand— that's a two-headed ice cream cone. Another thing we missed, but from what I hear, is well worth attending are the movies on the beach. Be sure to inquire about them when you’re vaca tioning at Nags Head. We’re glad to be back home, without sand in our beds at night, but we did have a wonderful week at the beach. The fish didn’t bite, but the water was very calm and clear, mak ing swimming and bathing a pleasure. It was a re laxing time for us all and there’s always another time for fish to take our bait. One more thing—just a small tribute to Izze Cam pen—always a friend—kind and cheerful—a man with many friends, who miss him. The GI Bill helped edu cate 116 Congressmen. In all U. S. wars, one out of 38 participants died in service.
