Physicians call it obes-
J U J L J »- ity, but it’s just as un
healthy if we call it
pounds—too many pounds. In some places a chief
cause of early death is malnutrition but in this
country the Grim Reaper’s number one helper is
overeating. Overweight people subject their heart
and blood vessels-to undue stresses and strains.
Every ounce of excess flesh is a menace to health.
Which is why so many of us diet today. And those
of us who are wise see a physician first. We, as
professional pharmacists, know how effective r
doctor’* advice can be.

BROAD STREET
fyj BULLETIN
Try not to frown, it only shows
Your heart and thoughts are full of woe
And even though you’re looking down
It does no good to wear a frown.
So try on a smile to hide your doom,
Its brightness will dispel the gloom
Os sadness, worry and unfounded fright
A sunny smile can make things right.
Maybe it’s not a frown
you’re wearing, maybe just
a look of indifference. Even
that can make a big dif
ference to someone you
might meet on the street.
Think about it!
There’s so many interest
ing things coming up in
the next two weeks, such
as the big bake sale and
luncheon on October 18,
put on by the WSCS of
Edenton Methodist Church.
Then there’s the fish fry
on October 19 at the Eden
lon armory, for the benefit
of the Masonic and Eastern
Star Home, sponsored by
the Edenton chapter of the
Eastern Star. And, by the
way, don’t forget the mo
bile X-ray unit will be
back of the local Health
Department the 10th and
11th and then all next
week
We have company this
week, relatives from York.
Pa., and we’re having such
a delightful time visiting—
so if this seems, more dis
connected than usual -it’s
because I'd like to be at
two places at one time.
