The fact that I did not choose to seek re-election in no way indicates a lack of interest in the affairs of our community. It has been my privilege over the years to serve as Councilman, Mayor Pro-Tern, and for the past 10 years as your Mayor. Your past support and interest in municipal affairs has been a big factor in making Edenton the leader in Northeastern North Carolina. Without question, our economic standing is the best in our history, in industrial payroll, retail sales, and personal income. With your continued interest in good government we can look to the future with even greater anticipation. I earnestly impress on you the importance of casting your ballot in Tuesday’s election. Most sincerely, John A Mitchener, Jr., Mayor. ;-v i.i* ■* 'tW \ ’■?.'
