Mrs. Dolly Mae Tynch was admitted to the hospi tal Sunday for X-rays. Carey Evans was admit ted to the hospital Satur day. Congratulations to the newlyweds, Rose and Tur ner. The 9-11-year-old Eden ton RA’s took part in a track meet held at Central High School. It was an associational track meet. The RA’s of the Baptist Church will meet next Tuesday night at 7 o’clock in the fellowship hall. The Girl Scouts of Eden ton went to Chicoteague and Assiteague Saturday. Fifteen Girl Scouts went and Mary Jo Williams of Suffolk, a former Girl Scout of Edenton, joined them. They went sight seeing and toured several places. The adults who accompanied them were: Mrs. Herbert Hollowell, Mrs. Nathan Dail, Mrs. Taylor Brown and Mrs. Bernard Burroughs. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Evans went to Virginia on Saturday. The College of the Albe marle presented its fifth of a series of annual spring concerts featuring I choral and organ composi tions by Johannes Brahms, at Edenton Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock. It is an oil colored reproduction of a very old wall por trait of her gTeai, great grandparents. This is one of the many ways Chandler's Studio is preserving memories of people and times long gone by for area cus tomers. During May, in the lobby of the UV/Seaboard National Bank in Suffolk, they have a display called "Before And After" showing what can be done to re store old pictures. Chowan High News By SHAROLE GOBLE Juniors Present Prom With a theme of “It’s a Small World,” the Junior Class presented Chowan’s Junior-Senior .Prom Friday evening. A windmill from Holland, Eiffel Tower from France, a Gondola from Venice and a bridge under an Oriental >arch were rep resentatives of each coun try. Speeches were given by Dean Peele, president of the Junior Class; Matthew Garrett, president of the Senior Class; Sharole Goble, Tommy Bass and Vicki Goodwin. The entertainment was opened with “Come Fly With Me In My Beautiful Balloon,” and ended with “It’s a Small World After All.” Rhonda Bunch and Jerry Peele, prom co-chairmen, presented a gift of appre ciation to members of the prom faculty committee. They were: John Ward, Mrs. Barbara Ward, Miss Ceceilia Willoughby, Miss Catherine Aman and Ev erett White. In honor of her 16 th anniversary of working on Junior-Seniors, Mrs. Marvis Hendrix was given 16 red roses. Wins ton Dail, chairman, was al so presented a gift. The Student Steering Committee consisted of Rhonda Bunch, co-chair man, Jerry Peele, co-chair man, Dean Peele, Wanda Ward, Dorothy White, Paul Copeland, Faye Chappell, Sharole Goble, Vickie Goodwin, Jimmy Peele and Tommy Bass. C| Club Members Tour Hospital The Health Careers Club of John A. Holmes High School took a field trip Friday to Norfolk General Hospital. Twelve students toured the hospital. Transportation was provided by Mrs. Lane Kinion and Mrs. George Holmes. The next club project is sponsoring a benefit dance for the new Chowan Hos pital. Community support is sought.
