On Thursday of next Sweek, May 15, a land form ing demonstration will be held with Preston Monds on the Bennie P. Monds farm adjoining the high way in Bear Swemp near Center Hill. The field is located be side the Bennie Monds home. The event is sched uled for 10 o’clock Thurs day morning. It will be repeated in the afternoon at 2 o’clock. Attend the time most convenient for you. The event is being con ducted by the Soil Con servation Service, N. C. State University and the Agricultural Extension Ser vice cooperating. I have had several calls relative to the rate of planting cot ton seed. Here is the answer: Put your planters on hard ground where the seed can be found and counted. Drive the plant ers at the same speed as when planting in the field. After seed are dropped mark off a 10-foot space and count the seed. White and Miss Annette Pierce have fulfilled their desires to become high school graduates. They completed their education at the Learning Resources Center (Learning Lab). The lab is located in the basement of the Swain Elementary School, and is operated by the College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City. Mrs. White and Miss Pierce are enthusiastic supporters of the lab and urge other adults who wish to get their high school de gree to study there. Mrs. White is the mother of two girls, and she plans to work full-time at being a mother and housewife. Driving Course Local Women Slated In Area Attend Meeting An adult drivers educa tion course will be offered here by the College of the Albemarle, if was announc ed today. The course is for persons 18 years of age and older. This course will consist of 36 hours of classroom instruction and 18 hours of road work. Cars used in the program will be fur nished and total cost is sl6. Tentative plans are for a nine-week course starting this month and meeting two nights a week for three hours.
