Isn’t it frustrating to KNOW you dialed right and then get the wrong number, or to hear a re cording telling you that it’s the wrong number or that the number you are calling has been disconnected? Oh, 'boy then you remind yourself to count to 10 and then start over again. It’s a shame, too, that you can’t even blame any one person when you’re talk ing long distance and get cut off (it’s the equipment). Frustrations again just have to grin and bear it. Do you remember when you could mail a card for one cent? I met a friend one day last week in the Post Office who had sev eral antique greeting cards, mailed with one cent LH. He let me choose one of them to keep. It was a Happy New Year’s greeting card and it really brought back memories of a greeting card album that my mother had and that we children loved to look at on rainy days when we were house - bound. It’s nice to have friends who share such treasures. It was a nice surprise last week to walk in the Quinn Furniture Company and to see Judy Cartwright at the desk again. Judy is one of the nicest young ladies in Edenton, always friendly, courteous and pretty, too. Surely an added asset to the Quinn Furniture Company. Now, I hear that the fish are biting like wild at the beach, since the storm Gerda passed. Got a phone call today telling me about the large number of spots and mullets being caught. Woe is me l’m working for Sue Bunch this week and can’t get away. Too many people over look the importance of a good breakfast and they try to make a few bites on the run to do them for the most part of the day’s work or play. Tests show that if one doesn’t have an ade quate breakfast, work does not go as well or efficient ly. I heard recently of a mother of three who abso lutely refuses to get up in the morning to get break fast for her school age children. It just doesn’t seem natural for any moth er to be so neglectful in this important matter. Sta tistics state that from a quarter to a third of the day’s total food should be eaten at breakfast time. A good breakfast is essential, too, to the homemaker. In fact just as much as her factory working husband. (So eat up, Gals). When a house plant shows signs of drying, pour a teaspoon of castor oil around the roots it will give the plant new life. THE CHOWAN HERALD, EDENTON, NORTH CAROLINA, THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 11, IMS.
