The State Highway Commission outlined the First District’s proposed secondary road program, which included 13.5 miles of hard surfaced roads in Chowan County Grady M. A burglar broke into the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ra leigh Hollowell, where it was believed he intended to steal some of the valu able wedding presents of their daughter, Miss Mar guerite Hollowell, who was married a few days before. The intruder made his es cape when Mr. H ollowell was aroused and secured a pistol. Mount Mitchell (elevation 6,684) is the highest moun tain east of the Mississippi River.
