Snider - Graham Vows Miss Barbara Ann Snider was married to Thomas de- Graffenried Graham on Eas ter Bay, March 29, at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Clearwater, Fla. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Alan J. Snid er of Clearwater, who found ed Sun Coast Hospital in Largo, Fla. The bridegroom, son of Dr. and Mrs. William Graham of Durham, is a great great grandson of Gov. Wil liam A. Graham of North Ca rolina. on his father’s side and a descendant of Land grave Baron Christopher de- Graffenried, who founded New Bern on his mother’s side. The bride, given in marri age by her father, wore a formal gown of silk organza over peau fashioned with em pire bodice, high neckline and lantern sleeves accented by appliques of re-embroidered venise lace. The chapel length train was held at the waist with the venise lace. Her chapel length veil of silk illusion was held by face framing real rose buds. She carried a cluster bouquet of white roses, centered with Sweetheart roses and accents < of baby’s breath with white ■ satin streamers. The bride and bridegroom are both graduates of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they met in 1966. Mrs. Graham is a programmer-analyst at the UNC Computation Center and will complete her MA degree in French this summer. Mr. Graham is a member of the second year law class at the University of North Carolina. The ceremony was perform ed by Rev. Edward ChaUant and Rev. Dr. Robert Lam bert. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. It is made with some new Red Band mixes now on the market. From The Herald Kitchen By MILDRED HUSKINS Cakes are always good copy. They are also good eating. We have told you often that we collect pound cake recipes and we promised a loyal sup porter last week we’d include our sour cream pound cake recipe in the kitchen this week. Well, we will. We will also give you a new one but are a bit embarrassed for we are not sure where it came from. We clipped it recently from some publication with the in tention to try it but just didn’t get around to it until this week. It brought rave notices from the tasters at the coffee bar. Brown Sugar Pound Cake makes a mammouth cake and is delicious with or without frosting. We used a white butter cream frosting and it worked well. Brown Sugar Pound Cake 2 sticks butter or margar ine. Vt cup shortening. 1 box brown sugar (we used the dark brown). 1 cup white sugar. 5 eggs. 1 cup sweet milk. 3% cups plain flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. Vi teaspoon salt. IVi teaspoons vanilla. 2 teaspoons lemon extract. 1 cup chopped pecans. Cream butter, shortening and sugars. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix baking powder and salt with flour and add flour mixture alter nately with milk to the bat ter beginning and ending with flour. Add flavorings and nuts. Bake in a 10-inch tube pan at 325 degrees for one and one-half hours. The pan should be greased and floured. Sour Cream Pound Cake 1 cup sour cream. 1 cup shortening. 3 cups sugar. 6 eggs. 3 cups flour. V 4 teaspoon soda. 1 tablespoon vanilla. 1 tablespoon lemon extract. Cream sour cream and shortening. Add sugar grad ually then eggs alternately with the flour and soda which has been sifted to gether. Add flavorings. Turn into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and bake at Ralph E.
