HI CSOWAJf MERALD, EDENTON, NORTH CAROLINA t BROAD STREET BULLETIN... By Kate Many of us bury our head in the sand When the burden gets too great; ’ ' But there comes a moment in the sands of time, When we must stand tall and straight. For God gives us many blessings, In abundance every day. So don’t forget to count them, And thank Him when you pray. After a beautiful weekend, ’ iVs cool and rainy today ’ r again. Today is good “snooz ing” weather—to catch up on that much needed rest (if you can). Our house is too quiet, al most gloomy, since our com pany left Tuesday. Never have we enjoyed visitors any ; tnorc. Some of the fun was ' recalling by-gone days and looking at old pictures. Then ouv company was exception ally pleased with our town. They thought it was the prettiest and cleanest town they had ever seen in the South. Gee, we were proud! Os course, our company brought us some Yankee goodies, including seme tend er dandelion greens, which we certainly enjoyed. In turn we fed them nice fresh fish , which they seldom get since -'they live in the western part --4fU Maryland. Here’s hoping this weather ■: will clear up and bring an : ojdjer nice weekend for the . Ffower Show sponsored by ■ the Garden of Eden Club. . These gals have been work ing hard to make the show a success, so let’s all cooperate • by having our yards neat and I trim. Last week they had an : hqnest-to-gcodness fire in a ; cloak room of the Swain • Elementary School and you’ve [ lieVer seen a more orderly : and quick evacuation child : fen. It shows good training | in case of emergency. The herring are rolling in ■ t-h-e creeks and ditches. : Everywhere you look you cqft see them and the herring flippers are having a field day. It’s a pretty sight to see the silvery herring ro’l ing and flopping along the FOR SALE 3-Bedroom Brick Home Low Down Payment - Good Location SEE OR CALL HAYWOOD JONES Phone 482-2314 Taylor Theater EDENTON, N. Several of our friends were extra good to us this week end by bringing delectable lood to help with the cook ing for our guests. We do appreciate it very much, hav ing such kind friends. Here are four lines which someone gave me and I think they’re quite applicable to many of us: i love by bifocals, My dentures fit me fine. My living bra upholds me, But Oh! how I miss my mind. If you’d like to fix some dandelion greens, here’s the I way we cook them and they I sure are good. Fry several pieces c‘. bacon and drain, j Scald cleaned greens in drip pings, turning over and over. Salt, then add a mixture of 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 egg and I 1 tablespoon vinegar. Re- ! meve from fire and stir thor oughly. A salute to one of the nicest gals I know—Mrs. De le res (Ed) Earnhardt. Kitchen Shower For Bride-elect TYNER Miss Margaret Nixon was honored at a kit- I chen shower in the home of Mrs. Fahey Byrum, Jr., on April 10 from 8 to 10 P. M.
