But suddenly around me Were beams of light, stretched wide; And then I saw that Someone Was walking by my side. And when I turned to notice This road which I had trod, I saw two sets of footprints— My own—and those of God. Albemarle Rally Slated To Boost Jones Campaign ELIZABETH CITY Plans are now being finalized for an area-wide “Re-elect Walter Jones” political rally, accord ing to Tom Brown of Hert .'ord, rally chairman. The dd-fashioned campaign gath ering, scheduled for Septem ber 15, at the Elizabeth City National Guard Armory, will include Jones supporters from the seven Albemarle area counties lying north of the Chowan River. “We expect an overflow crowd,” Brown stated, “to en joy a free fish supper, lots of entertainment and plenty of campaigning.” It is ex pected that several well known state officials will par ticipate in the rally in sup port of Rep. Jones’ re-election bid. Jones, a native of Farm ville, is presently completing his third term in the House of Representatives, represent- Miss Bland- 84 Dies In Asheville Miss Penelope M. Bland, 84, died at an Asheville nursing home Tuesday after an ex tended illness. She was a native of Edenton but made her home in Asheville for many years. She was the daughter of the late Theodoric Bland and Alethia Benbury Bland. She is survived by one sis ter, Mrs. Georgie Bland Holmes of Edenton. She was a member of the Christian Church at Ashe ville. Graveside services will be held in Baover Hill Cemetery Friday mMtfng at 11 o’clock. Rev. PercjlXJpchurch will of ficiate.
