We offer you a few recipes which are easily prepared and are delicious. Little-Time Chicken 1 stick margarine, melted. 1 cup uncooked rice. ■ 1 can onion soup. 1 broiler-fryer, cut into serving pieces. Salt and pepper. Preheat oven to 325 de grees. Place margarine in bottom of a baking dish. Pour rice on melted margarine; add soup. Place chicken on top of rice. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Bake for one hour. Serves five. Note: Cream of mushroom, tomato or cream of celery soup may be used instead of onion. Festive Orange Rice 2 tablespoons minced onion. 2/3 cup chopped celery. 3 tablespoons (margarine. I 1 cup uncooked rice. 2 tablespoons grated orange rind. 1 cup orange juice. IVi cups water. iy< teaspoons salt. Pinch of thyme. Cook onions and celery in margarine in saucepan until tender. Add remaining in gredients; bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover and sim mer about 20 minutes or un til rice is tender. Remove from heat; toss lightly with a fork. Replace lid and let stand until rice is dry, five or 10 minutes. Quickie Dinner 6 pork chops. 1 1/3 cup (Minute Rice. 1 cup orange juice. 1 can chicken-rice soup. Brown chops, salt and pep per. Place rice in baking dish. Pour orange juice over rice. Arrange browned pork chops on rice. Pour soup over all. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. This recipe for Company Chicken comes to us from the Campbell Soup Company and features a new product, brown gravy with onions. Accom pany the chicken with butter ed broccoli, baked potatoes with sour cream and luscious Caramel -In - Between Fudge Cake which you see pictured here. Company Chicken 2 lbs. chicken pieces. 2 tablespoons shortening. 1 can brown gravy with onions. 1 cup sliced fresh mush rooms. V* cup green pepper strips. In "skillet, brown chjcken in shortening; pour off fat. Stir in gravy and mushrooms. Cover; cook over low heat 30 minutes. Add green pepper; cook 15 minutes more. Stir now and then. Makes four servings. ■Now for the dessert which uses mixes to make it easier to assemble than you would think at first glance. It was developed in the Pillsbury Company kitchens and is bound to be yummy. Cara mel -In -Between Fudge Cake 1 pkg. fudge cake mix. 1 cup water. 1 tablespoon solid shorten ing, if desired. 3 eggs. 1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted- Filling | 28 light caramels. 1 can (15 oz.) sweetened : condensed milk. 1 tablespoon butter or mar garine. Miss Dorothy Bufflap re turned to her home in Eliza beth City Sunday after spend ing three weeks with her father, J. Edwin Bufflap and Mrs. Bufflap. Mrs. Leroy H. Haskett en tered Beaufort County Hos pital in Washington Monday for an operation. ■Mr. and (Mrs. Ralph Hall and Susan of Kinston spent the weekend with relatives and friends. Rev. Percy Upchurch offi ciated at the double ring ceremony. Roy T. Blackley was soloist. (Earl G. Harrell was organist. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lovett of Edenton and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Kenneth Armstrong and the late Woodson Lee Furlough. Brown, sis ter of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss La tricia Hamm and Miss Donna Hamm of Snow Hill, cousins of the bride, and Miss Jewell Small of Edenton. Mrs. Armstrong, mother cif the bridegroom, designed and made the dresses for the bride and the bridesmaids. Mr. Armstrong, stepfather of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Dalton Furlough, brother of the bridegroom, Michael Brown, brother-in-law of the bride groom, Samuel Kadcr Davis and Morris Small, Jr., all of Edenton. Mrs. Lovett, mother of the bride, wore a three piece suit in shades of yellow and green and her flowers were yellow roses. Mrs. Armstrong, mother of the bridegroom, wore a light blue dress with matching coat and her flowers were pink roses.
