Grahanr has added his endorsement to reqpmmendations that an agricultural scientist be appointed to the National Science Board. Graham noted that presently there is only one agriculturalist out of 580 representatives on the board, staff, advisory committee and panels making up the National Forest Foundation. Recently Thomas S. Foley, D-Wash., chairman of the House Agriculture Committee and Willaim C. Wampler, R-Va., ranking minority committee member, jointly urged such an appointment in a letter to President Gerald Ford. “Legislation is pending in the Congress to sharply step up agricultural research in teh United States,’’ Graham explained. “It was during public hearings on this bill (H. R. 11743) that it was learned no agricultural scientist sat on the National Science Board. ' ‘Agriculture is not a plow, plant and spray situation anymore,’’ the commissioner said. “It is an industry which requires the expertise of scientists from virtually all disciplines. To me it is absurd not to have an agricultural scientitst on the board. After all, what is all our technology if we don’t have food?” At least one agricultural scientist could be appointed to the board after May 10. Eight of the present terms expire on that date. kVuIIKFAT! Nobody really wants to ha fat and •onw peopts naad halp. Hare's a sim ple way to lose might. MONADEX helps curb your appetite.
